A set back is a set up for a come back

Do you know, sitting here reflecting on this summer I want to tell you how truly overwhelmed I feel to know you all and be inspired by what you have put yourselves up for over the last 3 - 4 months. It's an impossible task to keep tabs on what everyone has done and continues to do, but as your achievements, adventures and stories trickle our way I count my blessings to be surrounded daily by a bunch of friends who keep pushing, growing and stretching themselves...with a smile on their face.

Sport is such a great metaphor for life. There's the good, the bad and the flipping ugly...sometimes all in one afternoon! It sounds clichéd, however in sport - as in life, there's a time to sow, a time to grow and a time to reap. Being a humble gardener myself, I learned a long time ago, that not everything you sow & water will reap results...but if you don't give up you will undoubtedly grow along the way and reap some amazing results!

This summer I"ve witnessed first hand that a set back is a set up for a comeback. Yep, shitty days happen! Meticulous planning, preparing and training towards one special sporting day can, if you are fortunate, get you to the start line of your event. For me, for Keith and a for handful of you this summer we have had to manage our frustration, disappointment and emotions when our 'big days' do not unfold as expected. Keith and I have a mantra that we live by ~ to set our goals in stone and our plans in sand. Following a set back we will reset the goal and then re-jiggle the plans!

We will be back.

It was hugely emotional to watch 3 amazing comebacks this August. Last year Emily Campbell was unable to continue with her Ironman day out in Germany. She discovered she was very (!!!) pregnant not long before the event, then choosing to go ahead with the event, was thwarted with bike crashes and mechanicals! This July my sis, Bethany and her fella Jonathan had their Ironman Zurich days dashed with not wetsuit swim cut-offs and bike shizz.

Emily, Bethany and Jonathan reset their goal and made epic comebacks this August out at Ironman Vichy (only 6 weeks after I.M Zurich) and all crossed the line as Ironmen that day! Goose bumpy stuff.

For all of you enduring a tempory set back this year -
