Lovin'

Two weeks today is the last drop in swim session. We will break for the long, hot summer on Friday 20th June and recommence in September on Friday 5th.

With these evenings being longer and lighter, open water swimming has a real draw. Box End is an idyllic setting for a weekday evening dip…swimming whilst the sun is setting or a storm passes over, followed by a friendly social in the bar after! If you make the effort to pull yourself out of bed and into the lake for a ‘dawn dip’ on the weekends, you can refuel on a bacon buttie beside the the lake at Box End or drive home via Starbucks for brekky! Sets you up for the day!

So, if you think you will suffer withdrawal symptoms from the Friday night swimming banter, we have got together with our fellow Sheddies to offer us all the chance to socialise over a little swim / bike / run throughout July.

Think of it as a deconstructed triathlon!

Sunday July 6th 2-5 pm Come along to The Swim Shed and bring your cozzie. There will be a chance to have some swim coaching in the endless pool, with personal feedback from the over & underwater cameras and of course the coach. We will have swimming demonstrations, drink & nibbles.

Sunday 13th July 9 am Ian and Kathryn Hanson have put together a beautiful, scenic 50 mile bike ride for us to join them on. Meet at Winslow Public Hall (MK183JG) ready to ride at 9am. It is free to park there. Come prepared with food and drink. Ian says that the route is not tough, only a couple of nice hills! No one will get left behind. I am sure there will be a coffee stop en route! Hoping!!

Sunday 20th July 9.30 am Jo and Mel have lined up a 13 mile, off road run through Woburn Park. Apparently we may get to see a few animals too!

If this tickles your fancy and you’d like to join us for one or all of these friendly get togethers, then ping me an email so we can have an idea of numbers, thanks.

Before I go I’d like to give a super Shed Shout Out to those of you still out there, notching up some swim/bike/run successes over the last couple of weekends. I am aware that Kevin, Ian & Kathryn fought with the extremely muddy conditions to finish the Belvoir Tri! Sara and Adam swam the humungous 5k at Eaton Dorney on Bank Holiday Monday. Jo, Jason and Neil stormed the hugely popular 70.3 Outlaw Triathlon last Sunday in the sweltering sun! And next Friday 13th Terry and Lynn will be bracing the Great North Swim! You are all so inspiring.

Enjoy your weekend – Jane x

…and don’t forget…
