LOOP: June 2018

So, the last time I wrote to you we were just heading off to a beautiful Manor House in North Norfolk to host a restorative yoga and foodie retreat with Fran from francesnewmanyoga.co.uk.

The digital detox was led by Fran, helping the guests to rest, restore and rejuvenate. And…wait for it…the wholesome and nutritious food was whipped up by The Swim Shed Kitchen no less!

It was so much fun and a resounding, relaxing success with all the guests.

If you’d like to wind down after the summer and top your energies up before the countdown to winter, then get in touch with Fran via her website. She will be able to answer any yoga related questions you might have. The dates are Friday 5th - Sunday 7th October 2018…we'd love to look after you!

The Swim Shed Kitchen…what’s that all about then? Well it’s an extension of the things we are passionate about…if you are interested to know what we are up to, check out the link below and have a nose. And because we have sooo much good stuff that we’d like you to be a part of…we created a new tab on our website, Shed Hub.

In last month's LOOP we shared with you Raf’s Ice Mile experience. Throughout this year we particularly wanted to highlight some novel swimming events and escapades.

We are delighted to share with you, Swim Shed buddy, Jemima’s recent swimming experience. It was a Swim For Life Event at Guildford Lido (the photo above), called 12 in 12…swim 12 miles in 12 hours in a pool! Jemima has generously written an inspiring account of her long swimming day…enjoy.

We love a great read and because of that it’s always a treat if a trusted source (!!) recommends a title. June’s Book of The Month is genius.

I imagine there are stacks of open water swimmers amongst you who have experienced a dip in a stunning lake or river, only to swim through floating litter.

Martin Dorey the author of No More Plastic was responsible for the #2minutesolution hashtag in 2013 after North Atlantic storms left UK beaches littered with plastic rubbish. It’s a simple, effective idea - pick up beach litter for 2 minutes, bag it, tag it, bin it - and the hashtag has been used thousands of times around the world.

No More Plastic is a super-quick read, highlighting the small changes we can make now that will add up to make a big difference. Keith and I have upped our no-plastic game since reading this.

Pass the book on when you have read it!

Before I go, here’s a novel swimming experience for you to explore. The very creative and talented Vivienne Rickman-Poole has a few spaces left on next weekends Mountain Swimming Workshop. As Vivienne says ‘There is more to swimming in a mountain lake than changing into your swimsuit, join me for two days of finding out how to prepare for the perfect mountain swim’.

Sounds idyllic. I am sure you will be in for a breathtaking treat!

Happy swimming!

Love

Jane x
